Football End of Season: Fortified Manor House: Photos.
The English Football Season (2018/9) has virtually limped to a finish, saving a few playoff finals.
The Premier League's top four are the following:
Manchester City 98 points
Liverpool 97 points.
Chelsea 72 points
Tottenham 71 points.
My predictions were as follows:
Manchester City
Liverpool
Manchester United
Chelsea.
As you can see I was completely wrong about United, who only finished the season in 6th place with 66 points; a full 32 points behind Man. City ! Indeed the most notable feature of the season was the eclipsing of the others, by the top two clubs, who fought to the end, with Liverpool going under by a mere point.
The Premier League said goodbye to Huddersfield; Fulham and Cardiff City. In their place we welcomed Norwich City and Sheffield United and either Aston Villa or Derby County who have their decider next Monday (27 / 5 ).
The Premier League showed itself to be one of the most powerful leagues in Europe by, for the first time having four English teams to contest the two remaining cup finals: The European Cup ( Liverpool and Tottenham ) and The Europa Cup ( Chelsea and Arsenal ). A remarkable achievement for those involved.
The Europa Cup will this year take place next Wednesday ( 29 / 5) in Baku, the capital of distant (2493 miles from London ) Azerbaijan. Unlikely on a tourist wish list, Baku is also the lowest lying capital in the world at 28 feet below sea level. Faced with the cost and a flying time of approx 5 hours 6 minutes it will be interesting to see how many Arsenal and Chelsea supporters actually make the trip there.
My predictions for the cups: Liverpool and Arsenal. As always we will see.
A curious mixture of the very old and old, wouldn't you agree?

Founded in 1229 and largely in a state of ruin by 2011, Beverstone Castle is one of the least known monuments in Gloucestershire.
The reason for this is not surprising, as part of the estate is occupied and thus not open to the public's gaze.
The village of Beverstone is situated just off a main road running into the town of Tetbury. The castle was used in a recent David Starkey television programme and it is believed that the Tudor King HenryV111 once paid a visit to it.
However recently I was able to pay a visit and managed to take these three photos of the property.
A curious mixture of the very old and old, wouldn't you agree?

The formal garden at Hanbury Hall, near Droitwich looked
in immaculate order when D. and I visited it last Wednesday
(22 /5 ). Hedges and borders cut within 'an inch of their lives'.
At the same National Trust property,
we visited the Orangery, where the orange, lime
and lemon plants had been brought out in
their pots to enjoy the early
summer heat.

Finally, in appreciation of this lovely warm weather, in the Daily Mail there was an interesting cloud formation appearing to show that " The Sun has got his Hat on," for which I am unable to show for copywrite reasons; but here instead is a portion of the 1932 lyrics.
