The Waiting Room: Ledbury Pics: Racing 2016

The Waiting Room

All  human emotion spills into
The Waiting room.

We greet, chat,hug and reminisce
In the Waiting room.

While some just look  or watch
In the Waiting room.

Pondering the slow advance of time
In the Waiting room.

Other people arrive for the next service
In the Waiting room.

We file out leaving empty spaces
In the Waiting room.

They will rapidly fill again
In the Waiting room.

Perhaps our lives take place
In Waiting rooms.

Getting ready for the occasion,

When it comes to our turn, not to
Enter
Into  the Waiting room.

Last Thursday D and d and I visited the market town of Ledbury just inside the county boundary of Herefordshire. It is always an interesting place with some original shops.

One such was "Tinsmiths."  It is situated a the end of a narrow alley.

I particularly liked the odd shape of the shop itself; which gave it a certain style and charm.

It has, as you can see a geometrical shape, which gives it an olde world special quality.

Inside materials, art and bric-a-brac jostle close together; whilst choice paintings adorn the walls on the upstairs floor.
Being last of the 'big-spenders, ' I bought a post card depicting an old tree with a door.

I was amused and somewhat delighted, to be handed at the cash point a  written  receipt for my lowly purchase. Splendid stuff.

On the walls of the alley, before the shops were some poster poems. Here is one that caught my eye.

Rather good I thought.

Well the town is all spruced up, the grass has been cut, the drains have been flushed and the pavements swept ready for the coming of the world and the Irish to Cheltenham's horse-racing National Hunt Festival, which takes place next week , Tuesday to Friday ( 15th to the 18th March).

So here are my big race tips. ( now you know what not to back ! ).

Champion Hurdle- Tuesday: Selection-" Identity Thief." ( 6 / 1 ) Trained in Ireland by Dermot Weld.
                                                                 Will like the faster ground.
Taking a 'swerve ' over the favourite Annie Power. She normally runs over three miles; should get outspeeded in this race.

Two  outsiders" Old Guard" ( 20/ 1 ) Paul Nicholls thinks a lot of this one,
" Sempre Medici" ( 28 / 1 ) expected to be there or there abouts.

Champion Chase-  Wednesday  " Un De Sceaux" (4 /6) Willie Mullins will be in a state of shock if this one loses.

Outsider, in case of fav. falling " Sire De Grugy. " ( 14/ 1 )  former winner of race,
slowly    coming back to his best.

" World Hurdle "   Thursday  " Thistlecrack" ( 6/5 ) one for the English. Saw this one win recently
Will take a tough one to beat this.

                             Outsider " At Fisher's  Cross" ( 40 / 1 ) trained in Wales, on comeback trail.

"Gold Cup "       Friday    "Djakadam (11/2 )/ Don Cossack ( 4 /1). Can't split these Irish crackers
                                           former 2nd last year.

Outsider   " Smad Place " ( 12 / 1 ) trained by Alan King, this lovely grey horse will
try to make all. Tough as Teak.

All top prices, as I write now.

" Smad Place " winning the races.
