Too Quick To Catch The Action: Ever Upwards.

Last Saturday  (9/9/'17) the  penultimate stage of the "Tour of Britain "  cycle race ended  in Cheltenham.

Naturally I came along for ' the bun fight ' The race was due to end at about three thirty in the afternoon in the Promenade, so I arrived at two twenty.

At this time I was greeted with a cloud burst.

Luckily it soon cleared up. Here is my race view.
looking from the 'top' of the Prom downwards.

Soon everyone was straining for a view .

You can see the green finishing arch in the background.

I  look a video of the finish, but with the speed of the  cycles it was less than satisfactory

Here are some volunteers waiting for the 'stragglers. '

Here is the reception outside the Queen's Hotel.

Note in the bottom photo I did actually  ' catch ' a real live race cyclist.

Making my way home, I did  at least spot this 'cycle '

Ambition

Ambition is an upward slope
With peak a distance away.

Starting with confidence
Way is made with determined
Strokes
Until the gradient interferes
With your social equilibrium
And the pace of progress
Slows.

Gifting favours, the march
Continues, with a burden
Of promises made..

But eventually imposing
Authority,
You make your
Highest plateau.

Now the tough tasks,
Will your leadership determine
A route to ensure your legacy
Is maintained?
Or will it fall away in time
And in so doing  diminish
Your achievements ..

The idea for those words came when D. and I recently visited the  Fancy View  in the Forest of Dean.

The steep slope leads to a viewing spot over which the Forest may be discerned. From the platform birds could be spotted and the flora and fauna noticed.

But because the  view was not preserved by pruning and cutting, the Forest floor cannot be ascertained. What a shame.

😩😩😩😩

Seen on a pirate flag at a local Folk Festival, the following words

" Beatings will continue,
until morale is improved "

Now that's a mission Statement !

WiFi for now,
Ck.
