As I sit;
Butterflies
Flutterby.
Before;
I can

Or even

They are
All In a

I close
My eyes,
Time for a

Well bless my ( football ) boots, we've just over Moscow and the World Cup. Who remembers:

( Midnight in Moscow, with Kenny Ball  and band released in  1961-  Thought so !)

 Now today  ( 04/08/'18) the EFL Football League ( 2018- '19 ) begins.
That being so, it's time for my soccer predictions:

CHAMPIONSHIP

1  Aston Villa     (12/1)

2   Stoke             (11/2)

3   Swansea         ( 16/1 )

Villa having narrowly missed out last year, by 0- 1  to promoted Fulham. With new  money in the club, they  should surely join the Premier next season.

Stoke relegated last season has  a major chance to regain the top in one go. No-one will relish going to Stoke's Victoria Ground. The hostile atmosphere generated there should yield many points for Stoke.

Swansea, also relegated , now with  a new Scottish  Manager,  who will bring some unique training methods,( including dancing lessons, to the club,)  and so once they get into their  rhythm ( sorry) they should begin to climb up the table. A long shot.

LEAGUE 1

 1 Sunderland      ( 3/1)

 2   Luton               ( 16/1 )

 3   Plymouth          ( 25/1)

I make Sunderland the best bet for promotion, even with the skinny price of 3/1. They surely have reached the botton of their slide from the Premier. They have a new set-up with manager and owner. Clubs from League 1 will be awed when they visit " The Stadium of Light " and once Sunderland realise their true class, they should Lord it at the top of the table.

Luton have gained promotion to League 1 last season. I take a chance that forward momentum will propel them to the play-offs.
They are sleeping giants that maybe, are on their way back  to former glories.

I am taking a punt with Plymouth again. If they can build on their self-confidence and make a good start to the new season, they can be moving upwards. I like the fact that Plymouth,  are an honest team that continually tries to improve throughout their 44 matches. A check at Christmas will clarify their position .

LEAGUE 2

1 Lincoln     7/1

2  MK Dons   13/2

3  Swindon      14/1

Lincoln having won the "Checkatrade" Cup at Wembley last season and narrowly losing in the play-offs are surely ready for promotion. The same, very able management team are still in place and with their large following, they should attain their goal.

I thought, at one time, that the Dons would make it to the Premier. This has not transpired, but they are surely better than this league and must join Lincoln near the top of the table.

Swindon are wishful thinking on my part, but with a concerted effort,  they are capable of re-discovering their form and moving upwards. All they need is a massive self-belief, and maybe, just maybe, this could be their time again.

On Friday 27th July, Smokey Joes cafe in Cheltenham, held a reunion to remember " The Blue Moon " Club, which operated in Cheltenham's  High Street  in the '60s,

Stop Press:

The above photo was taken today(4/8'18) at Cheltenham Town's first match of the season home to Crawley ( in black).
Cheltenham lost 0-1, but in doing so missed a penalty. With ten new players in Cheltenham's team, they were often confused with their roles. More work on the training ground needed.

WiFi for now,
Ck.
