Dealing with niggles; Christmas wishes: Two things to hope for in 2020

My way of dealing with niggles ,is to make them into a form of words; which helps me rationalise my anxieties  and so stop an obsession from forming. Al least that's what I think.
So read the following and make your minds up.

Not on my patch

Sun breaks.
Another day enfolds.
The garden beckons;
but harmony is soon
broken, by aerial noises,
a thousand times more 
than the bumble Bee, 
who pollinates rather than
contaminates  the atmosphere.

What arrogance gives  these
Pipers, Senecas and their ilk 
an entitlement to invade
my space at intervals of
ten minutes or so?
For, if they moved on
the ground; authorities 
could curb their actions;

But overhead they are
completely free to
inflict a menu of noise,
air  and environmental 
pollution, whilst making
an incessant drone as they
perform their circuits.

So please,may your controllers 
give us peace; a measure
of serenity and our old,
established gardens
returned if only for a respite

  ona regular basis; or am I
indulging in a mere
flight of fancy?

Two wishes for the new year: With the European Football Championships taking place in Great Britain, with the final on July 12th at Wembley, London. I would like our boys to emulate the England rugby team and make the final next year. It's about time!

 Secondly, with Glasgow, Scotland, hosting the climate change conference in 2020; I would hope that Britain could take a lead and for the sake of our Children and generations to come, show a responsibility for the fate of our planet. Let's all get together and work as one, for as Williams James said: "We are like islands in the sea, separate on the surface, but connected in the deep." This global crisis can bring the world together. I hope so.

Tuesday Glory: Spring is Coming

When Tuesdays are glorious; the birds sing; the sun shines; the bright colours come out to play and all is well with the world. Such a day was Tuesday, February 8th, at eleven  'o ' clock, when I fetched up at the Sherborne National Trust Estate. This sign looked promising, but as I made my way out of the car park and into the woodland, no snowdrops were to be seen. But although the woods were still sleeping in the shade, some catkins were  in view. Reaching the road and turning right, I soon came by the nature reserve, with its gentle meandering stream. When I reached the nearby church, I beheld  my first snowdrops; a wonderful domesticated array of white, interspersed with yellow crocus. My route then took me, from the road, back into the estate. Here, through the effect of the sun shining on the ground; were further miracles before me as I walked back to the car.   A selection of images for you. All that was left to complete this excelle

Heavy Going in Wotton

Started the new year with a circular Cotswold Way  walk based on Wotton Under Edge. It was over five miles in length, on a day when misty weather clouded the valley views. The ground was muddy, sodden in places; but temperature  wise, was good for winter walking. The rain largely held off; except for a persistent drizzle at times. The walk started from the High Street in Wotton; crossed the main car-park and then headed up a grassy track by the side of a school. This led, via a style into fields; which steadily climbed up until the footpath for Ozlewoth was reached. In a short while by turning left ; the walk joined the Cotswold Way  on its route back to Wotton. The picture above shows the level of mud and water, found on the track out to meet the road back to Wotton. One had to walk with extreme care! The conditions proved so trying, that rather than take this down-slope I continued down the road; until Wotton was reached. Net Neutrality Changing the subject, I feel
